Will God punish people who aren’t gay because their country allowed gay marriage?

I’m not very religious, so I don’t know much about the religious reasons for/against gay marriage. I was just wondering if the Bible says that people who are not gay will go to Hell because they lived in an area that allowed gay marriage? I don’t think it does. If it doesn’t say that, then what is then why are people against gay government weddings? Do they think the gov will force churches to perform them or something ?

Some people believe that homosexuality, extra-marital affairs, shellfish or other foods, is an abomination in the eyes of God. Some people also believe that God is okay with slavery. I think some people use THE BIBLE to justify their own beliefs about gay people or gay marriages. As for what happens as gay marriages become legal, people THINK all kinds of stuff–that we are losing our churches, our schools, our money, our country, our families, etc. Some people believe their children will become gay. Some are more hysterical than others. I can speak for myself in saying the more hysterical my thinking, the further I am away from God.

I believe in a loving God not a punishing one. He loves gays and straights equally. He loves those who are for and those who are against gay marriage equally. I believe some people (not God) are disgusted, hateful, fearful, intolerant, or prejudiced towards gays and that is why they are against gay marriage.

There are many principles in THE BIBLE I agree with and some I don’t. I can make a choice to take what I need and leave the rest or try to use all of it. As for me, as much as I’d like to be able to use all of it, I like shrimp, and it’s better for me to use parts of THE BIBLE that work for me, not those which work against me or others.

Don’t worry so much. Everything will turn out just fine although it may not be the way either you or I want it. God bless you!
